SoCal80's Meet and Greet

SoCal80's is a group of enthusiast of 1991-1997 Toyota Landcruiser 80 Series owners that live in around Southern California

Every once in a while when everyone gets free time, a group of SoCal 80's get together to check each others rigs out and match faces to screen names on the web. It's been a while since our last meet up, so we were due. The location was centrally located for most people and had a small bit of dirt to get our tires dirty. The meeting place was Trabuco canyon with a BBQ afterwards at Oneil park.

This year we had a great turn out. It was amazing that people from all over showed up, including San Diego and West LA.

We chose to meet at the Trabuco canyon turn off. Let the oogling of the rigs begin and introductions fly. Everyone was having a good time eyeballing each others mods and meeting new cruiser owners.

Introductions were made, including screen name and which rig was theirs.

After a long while of the chit-chat, we were all ready and set to head up the trail. It's a 11 mile out and back trail that heads back towards Holy Jim falls. Plenty of people on the trail as usual.

Just a couple of the amazing rigs..

About 5-10 minutes into the trail we encountered a crashing R/C plane. It came straight down and at high speed. If we were traveling a little faster it would have landed on our rig. Luckily it hit ahead of us.

After heading on we crossed several water crossings.

After a certain point the trail comes to a small dirt parking lot where we figured it was best to turn around. In my case i was happy to find a spot with enough room for us to turn around with the trailer.

Once turned around we all headed back out the canyon and over to Oneil park. Big thanks to Scott for finding a great spot that not only had shade but could also house 17 landcruisers in one spot all together.

We all brought something for the potluck. There was so much food it was incredible. Some BBQ'd dogs, hamburgers, brats.. others made chili, home made hummus and spam sushi. There was desert of all kinds also. It was one heck of a spread!

It was killer sitting in the shade just relaxing and making some new friends.

Little bocce ball anyone?

One last shot of all the rigs..

Thanks to everyone that came out, it was a good time for sure. We all need together and do a trip with some, 4-wheeling, exploring and some camping, now that would be a blast.
